Henry Poole & Co is the oldest tailoring house on Savile Row, founded in 1806 by James Poole. The firm moved to Savile Row in 1846 and is widely credited with creating the first dinner jacket (tuxedo) in the 1880s, when it made a short smoking jacket for the Prince of Wales, who later became King Edward VII.
